We’re proud to have been making the highest quality prescription eyewear for over 30 years and we are committed to providing the best quality products at the most competitive prices, delivered directly to you.

With over 30 year’s of lens manufacturing experience and a friendly team of eyewear experts, mojoglasses can help you choose the most appropriate lenses and coatings – we know our stuff.
We also realise that it’s easy to get a bit confused by all the different options available and there’s a lot of jargon – so let’s try and demystify things for you! (although we will probably slip a few bits of jargon in here and there!)

We offer a range of different lens types and coatings so that you can choose the best option for your requirements. Here we explain what each lens type is and how to choose the right one for you.

Single Vision Lenses

Single Vision Lenses

Single vision lenses are designed to help you focus on things either near (Reading), or far (Distance). It’s the most common type of lens that most people are used to. Put simply, they are called single vision because they offer just that – vision that is corrected to your prescription at a single distance either near or far.

Your prescription will determine whether you need glasses to correct your vision for near or far – and sometimes ( in fact quite often) you might need your vision corrected for both near and far with different prescription lenses – that’s why some people have a pair of reading glasses and a separate pair of distance glasses.

Varifocal Lenses

Varifocals lenses are quite amazing and the technology behind them has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years. Varifocal lenses are great if you have different prescriptions for near and distance vision. They vision is split up into corridors (jargon alert), that gradually change from distance to intermediate and near vision, so all you have to do is look through a different area of the lens to focus clearly at any distance, without swapping to a different pair of glasses. For detailed information on Varifocals click here. They do all this but they look just like a normal single vision lens – there’s no line or segment (not like the old bi-focal lens where you can see the reading segment).

Varifocal lenses are designed to help you see objects at all distances, and offer a seamless progression from long distance vision at the top of the lens, through intermediate distance in the middle portion, right through to very close objects at the bottom of the lens. Our varifocal lenses are manufactured using the latest ‘digital freeform’ lens technology and offer a wide field of vision at all distances.

For varifocals, we also offer a choice of 2 types – our Premium HD varifocal and Ultra HD varifocal. They are both excellent quality lenses, and do the same job, but the Ultra HD offers a wider field of vision. They come with standard anti-reflective coating included, with an option to upgrade to our Ultra anti-reflection coating.

Thin & Light Lenses

We have made high and complex prescription spectacles on a daily basis at our pioneering manufacturing facility in Cambridgeshire for over 30 years, meeting the needs of our customers at a fraction of the cost of High Street Opticians. For high and complex prescriptions we normally recommend using a thinner and lighter lens material compared to the standard lens material. These different lens materials are referred to as ‘indexes’ and relates to the refractive index of the lens material used. The higher the prescription, the higher the index lens material is recommended, as described below:

Lenses Thickness

1.5 Index Standard Lenses – standard thickness
Recommended for prescriptions up to +/- 2

1.6 Index Thin & Light Lenses – up to 25% thinner & lighter
Recommended for medium prescriptions up to +/- 4

1.67 Index Super – Thin & Light Lenses – up to 35% thinner & lighter
Recommended for medium to high prescriptions up to +/- 6
Lighter and Flatter Design

1.74 Ultra – Thin & Light Lenses – up to 50% thinner & lighter
Recommended for high prescriptions over +/- 6
Ultra-Light and Flat Design

We offer:
  • High prescription glasses
  • Complex prescription lenses
  • Astigmatism in prescription lenses
  • Prism in prescription lenses
  • Thinner and lighter lenses

We produce some of the thinnest and lightest lenses available. Engineered to be robust and lightweight, these lenses can fit any frames, even rimless designs. We can even tint them so that you can use them as sunglasses. If you have a complex prescription and you’d finally like to upgrade to lightweight glasses that are modern, sleek and stylish, we can provide thin and light lenses that are just right for your prescription, at a fraction of the cost of high street opticians.

Our thin and light lenses are extremely popular, offering style, high performance and minimalism, without compromising on quality. Whether you’re looking to find your perfect pair of lightweight spectacles that can be used for single vision, varifocal, transitions or polarised, you’re guaranteed hardwearing lenses that are much thinner than conventional ones. Thanks to huge strides forward in centre and edge thickness optimisation, our lenses deliver more style and comfort, whilst ensuring the same amount of corrective power.

Anti-Reflection Coating

Anti-reflective lens coating works in two ways. Firstly, it reduces reflections on the front of your lenses so that people can see your eyes better. Secondly, the inside of the lens is also anti-reflective, helping to reduce glare and therefore improving your clarity of vision. This is especially helpful if you spend a lot of time driving or near water, and they can help reduce eyestrain. We offer two types of anti-reflection coating:

Standard Anti Reflection Coating – reduces glare and reflections to optimise vision and enhance the look of your glasses. Includes 100% UV Protection.
UltraClear Anti Reflection Coating – provides optimal clarity and glare reduction, with enhanced anti-scratch coating they are more impact resistant than standard anti reflective lenses. They enhance the look of your glasses are water repellent, easier to clean and come with 100% UV Protection.

Blue Light Protection Lenses

If you spend hours each day looking at a screen, you’ll know how easily it can tire and strain your eyes. Our Blue Light Protection helps to filter the harmful blue light that digital devices emit, giving you clearer vision with less discomfort. Blue Light Lenses improve visual comfort and reduce eye strain by protecting your eyes from the ‘Blue Light’ of phones & computer screens. Includes anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and provide 100% UV Protection.

Sunglasses – Tints

If you want to turn your glasses into sunglasses or add prescription lenses to sunglass frames, you can choose from brown, green or grey-tinted lenses, depending on your personal preference and which you think will go better with your chosen frames. We use a dark tint as standard to reduce the intensity of sunlight, our tinted lenses come with 100% UV400 protection.

Sunglasses – Polarised

By absorbing 85% of the light, polarised tints not only reduce glare, they make vision sharper and clearer and provide 100% UV Protection. Best for eliminating glare and reducing reflection whilst driving in bright sunshine, or reflections from water sports such as sailing and fishing. Polarised lenses do a much better job than a standard tint, reducing glare and giving you greater visual comfort on bright days. They also offer better clarity, contrast and colour perception so you can enjoy crisp, clear, natural vision.

Adaptive lenses

If you don’t want to have separate glasses to wear indoors and out, light adaptive or ‘photochromatic’ lenses are the answer. Quickly changing from clear to tinted and back again, you get the best of both worlds without having to carry an extra pair of glasses or sunglasses around. Light Adaptive or Photochromatic lenses adjust from clear indoors to a perfect tint outdoors with 100% UV Protection.

Drive Lenses

Drive lenses are optimised specifically for day and night driving to reduce daytime reflection and dazzle from headlights – helping you to feel more comfortable behind the wheel. Includes standard anti-reflective coating and 100% UV Protection.
